Frequently Asked Questions
1) what do you do?
I work with individuals who want to make changes in their lives. I also consult with companies to help their teams through change management. And I coach coaches to be better coaches. In my spare time, I also host virtual events to build community.
2) what issues have you overcome in your life?
Anorexia. Acne. Insomnia. GI issues. Gender dysphoria. Depression. Anxiety. Suicidal thoughts. Despair. Grief. Chronic joint pain. Sinus infections. Seasonal and good allergies. Mood swings. Bloating. Weight gain/loss. Headaches. Fatigue. Changing where I live. Changing who I love. Changing jobs. I could go on…
3) what’s your specific expertise?
Supporting people to practice wellness to build resilience—specifically how to overcome fear, self-doubt and perfectionism to take action to make the changes necessary to grow, heal and thrive. I can help you overcome confusion to take concrete action toward changing habits or making other life changes. Most human beings want or need support in one or all of these areas.
4) what are coaching sessions or your classes like?
You talk. I listen. I ask you questions. We laugh (hopefully, if you think I'm funny). We figure out what you want and need to thrive. I encourage you. In my group programs and presentations, we learn new tools and skills to feel better and treat others well. The conversations are authentic so we can troubleshoot issues and make progress. And, since I’m a former teacher, we have a lot of fun.
5) what would you do if you weren't a coach?
I love my job. I can’t think of anything else I would rather do.
6) when is your book coming out?
Hopefully soon.
7) what else do you do?
I enjoy being in nature either exercising or doing yard work. I read and journal every day. I like to cook most of my own food and I listen to music pretty much every waking hour. I watch movies occasionally and I listen to the birds.
8) I see from some of your videos and writing that you’re trans*. Are your clients LGBTQIA+?
Nope, hardly any are, in fact. It’s not my specialty or my niche. Since 2009, most of my clients are heterosexual, cisgender people who want or need a good listener to support them. For them, I’m a coach who has really walked his talk and has been through a lot so they find me very relatable.
