who I am
Hi. I’m Dillan.
I am an educator, coach and consultant.
My passion for sharing about wellness and resilience is inspired by my own life.
Learning how to be healthier is hard. I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years and all I’ve learned inspires me to help people thrive and love their lives more. I want to help people do, be or have whatever they want to feel successful, healthy and happy—like I’ve learned to do for myself.
From a young age, I have constantly challenged myself to adapt to thrive. I have developed these skills to overcome a lot of adversity in my life, starting from childhood through adulthood.
I love change. It’s my superpower. I’ve changed a lot in my life, starting with a major wakeup call about my relationship with food in high school. That shift started me on the path of personal growth, empowering myself to change anything and everything in my life to be as healthy and happy as I can be.
But it hasn’t been easy. A lot of the changes (like changing my career a few times and changing my religion—you know, small things) were my choice and those felt great but some unexpected changes challenged me to learn acceptance and resilience, instead. Wellness was the linchpin.
When I became a health coach in 2009, it was a major pivot in my life. After so many changes, I started to truly transform in ways that I never could have done before. I no longer suffer from chronic sinus infections. I don’t have the wicked mood swings that I struggled with for years.
I’ve learned how to run my own business and all that comes with that. My relationship to food, exercise, sleep and mindfulness in every aspect of my life is unrecognizable from before I became a health coach. I also took on transitioning my gender identity in my mid 30s, while running my business and going back to graduate school. All at the same time!
With every major life transformation I’ve made, I have overcome the greatest fears most people have that often hold them back, so my clients feel safe and comfortable with me. I also excel at building community among diverse groups, something I’ve naturally done since I was very young.
Someone told me years ago that I have the power to help bridge the gap in collective human misunderstanding and I thought that was very kind.
From my formal training as a teacher and coach and my own life experiences, I know all the challenges that exist in the modern human experience that plague our society. Issues around identity, belonging, purpose, wellness, self-acceptance and compassion for others.
In my individual coaching, keynotes and consulting I share the same message: take good care of yourself and do the same with other people.
My BS and MEd degrees make me a critical thinker and my certification as an integrative health coach helps me be a better listener. I attended The College of New Jersey, Lesley University and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I’m a recovering perfectionist, an omnivore and I love coffee and chocolate chip cookies. I was born and raised in New Jersey, lived in New England for 11 years, NJ again, Philly for a bit and now I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I hope to inspire you on your own path toward health and success. ;)
